Munich Open: Bergs moves into last eight

Zizou Bergs won against Diego Dedura-Palomero 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday and will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 4 seed, and Hungarian Fabian Marozsan in the next round

Belgian Zizou Bergs won against German lucky loser Diego Dedura-Palomero 6-1, 6-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex on Thursday.

Bergs, ranked No 50, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 4 seed, and Hungarian Fabian Marozsan next.

Ahead of his victory, the Belgian edged out Kazakh qualifier Alexander Bublik (6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5).

Diego Dedura-Palomero benefited from the abandonment of Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 8 seed (7-6 (2), 3-0) in the previous round of the Munich tournament.
