Rome Masters: Ofner reaches second round

Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner advanced to the second round of the Rome Masters when Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena retired at the Foro Italico in Roma on Thursday evening.

Ofner, ranked No 143, led 6-3, 0-0 when Carballes Baena, ranked No 59, pulled out at the Foro Italico in Roma on Thursday evening.

The Austrian will play No 15 seed Frances Tiafoe next.
