Pole Magda Linette, the No 32 seed, moved into the third round of the Italian Open by winning against Greek qualifier Maria Sakkari 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the Foro Italico in Roma on Friday.
Linette, ranked No 32, will play the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, and Canadian qualifier Victoria Mboko next.
Sakkari, ranked No 81, benefited from the abandonment of Swiss Belinda Bencic (6-2) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
