Rome Masters: Tiafoe first seed out of top half of men’s draw
Sebastian Ofner beat Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-3 on Saturday and will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 17 seed, and Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the next round

Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner won against American Frances Tiafoe, the No 15 seed, 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-3 to reach the third round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Rome on Saturday.
Tiafoe, who played his eleventh match on clay in 2025, is the first seeded player to be eliminated in the upper part of the draw. In the other half, Dimitrov (No 14), Humbert (No 21), Shapovalov (No 27), Michelsen (No 31) and Baez (No 32) left the draw on Friday.
Ofner, ranked No 143, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 17 seed, and Chilean Nicolas Jarry. The Austrian had benefited from the abandonment of Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-3, 0-0) in the previous round.
He had never won two matches at the Masters 1000 level earlier in his career.
