Hungarian Fabian Marozsan advanced to the third round of the Rome Masters by winning against Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 16 seed, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Saturday.
Marozsan, ranked No 61, will face the winner of the match between No 20 seed Jakub Mensik and Italian wildcard Matteo Gigante next.
The Hungarian is in a good shape at the Italian Open, where he showed up for the first time on the big stage, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in 2023. He had defeated the rising star of the men’s Tour, Brazilian Joao Fonseca (6-3, 7-6 [4]) in the previous round.
Rublev has only won two matches on the ATP Tour since his win at the Dubai tournament in February.
