Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 10 seed, beat Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 24 seed, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Roma on Sunday.
Medvedev, ranked No 11, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 8 seed, and American Brandon Nakashima, the No 28 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Russian won against lucky loser Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-2).
Popyrin, ranked No 25, won against Spanish qualifier Carlos Taberner (6-1, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Italian Open.
