Canadian Victoria Mboko defeated Chinese Xinyu Wang, the second seed, 6-4, 6-0 to move into the last 4 of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren on Thursday evening.
Mboko, ranked No 156, will face Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 8 seed, next.
The 18-year-old Canadian won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (5-7, 6-4, 6-3) and Swiss Jil Teichmann (6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Wang, ranked No 43, beat Shuai Zhang (6-4, 6-3) and edged out American Varvara Lepchenko (3-6, 6-3, 6-4).
