American Emma Navarro, the second seed, beat Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the last 8 of the Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Navarro, ranked No 9, will play Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 9 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament, Blinkova, ranked No 65, won against Pole Magdalena Frech (6-3, 7-5).
