Top seed Alexander Zverev squandered a 5-3 lead in the final-set tiebreak as he crashed out of the Hamburg Open, beaten 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5) by Frenchman Alexandre Muller in the second round.
Muller, ranked No 40, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Hamburg tournament, the Frenchman defeated Swede qualifier Elias Ymer (6-3, 7-5).
Zverev, ranked No 3, won against American qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-1, 7-6 (5)) during the first round of the Hamburg tournament.
