Maya Joint reached the final of the Rabat Open when Ajla Tomljanovic retired on Friday at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc.

Joint, ranked No 78, led 6-4 when Tomljanovic, ranked No 79, pulled out on Friday afternoon at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc.

Maya Joint will face the winner of the match between Romanian Jaqueline Cristian and Colombian Camila Osorio, the second seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, Joint won against Croat Ana Konjuh (7-5, 6-2), American Katie Volynets, the No 9 seed (6-0, 6-3) and American Ann Li, the No 4 seed (6-2, 6-1).

Ajla Tomljanovic beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, the No 5 seed (7-5, 4-6, 6-3), Italian qualifier Tatiana Pieri (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the No 10 seed (6-1, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Rabat tournament.
