Serb Novak Djokovic, the second seed, edged out Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 6 seed, 5-7, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) to win the Geneva Open title at Tennis Club de Genève, Parc des Eaux-Vives on Saturday.

In the previous rounds of the Geneva tournament, Djokovic, ranked No 6, defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (6-2, 6-3), Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-4) and qualifier Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-1).

Hurkacz, ranked No 31, beat French wildcard Arthur Cazaux (6-3, 6-4), Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (6-4, 6-1), American Taylor Fritz, the top seed (6-3, 7-6 (5)) and Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
