Roland-Garros: Alcaraz drops second set, then rolls to make the third round
The world No 2 collected his 20th win at the Parisian Grand Slam.

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, reached the third round of Roland-Garros by winning against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at Roland-Garros in Paris on Wednesday.
Alcaraz, ranked No 2, will play Bosnian Damir Dzumhur next. He defeated Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the No 31 seed, despite a knee injury.
As a result of his win, the four-time Grand Slam champion has become the second-fastest male player to claim 20 singles wins at Roland-Garros, doing so in 23 matches – with Rafael Nadal doing so in 20 matches.
I’m really happy I stayed strong
“In the second set, he started to play much better and he was really aggressive,” stated the defending champion after the victory. “He didn’t miss at all so it was a little difficult to deal with his game in the second set.
“But I’m really happy I stayed strong and refreshed myself. I started to play better and better which helped me have a really good last two sets.”
It was the first set Alcaraz had dropped in Paris this year. The previous round of the Roland-Garros 2025, the 22-year-old Spaniard defeated Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri (6-3, 6-4, 6-2).
