Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 4 seed, won against Ukrainian lucky loser Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-4, 6-1 to move into the last 16 of Roland-Garros.
Paolini, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between American Bernarda Pera and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 13 seed, next.
The Italian defeated Chinese Yue Yuan (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) and Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Starodubtseva, ranked No 81, edged out German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch (2-6, 6-1, 6-4) and beat Russian Anastasia Potapova (7-6 (4), 6-2).
