Nick Kyrgios withdraws from Wimbledon, due to a ‘small setback’
The Australian will miss the Grand Slam for the third consecutive year.

Nick Kyrgios has announced that he will miss the entire grass-court season this season, stating that he has suffered a ‘small setback’ in his recovery from injury.
The Australian hasn’t played since the Miami Open, where he lost to Karen Khachanov 7-6(3), 6-0 – seemingly suffering from wrist discomfort.
Kyrgios has been plagued with injury issues since reaching the final of Wimbledon in 2022, playing just a handful of events in the last 24 months after undergoing ‘reconstructive’ wrist surgery in late-2023.
“I’ve hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won’t make it back for grass season this year,” the former Wimbledon No 13 said, on his Instagram statement.
“I know how much you’ve all been looking forward to seeing me out there, and I’m genuinely sorry to disappoint. This is just a bump in the road though, and I’m already working hard to get back stronger than ever.
“Thank you for all your continued support- it means everything to me. See you soon!”

The withdrawal marks the third successive year that Kyrgios has missed the grass-court Grand Slam.
Kyrgios did attempt a comeback to the tour at the Brisbane International event in January – losing out to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard – before falling in his opening matches of both the Australian Open and Indian Wells.
After a loss to Jacob Fearnley at his home Grand Slam, the Australian enigma admitted that he would likely never play competitive singles in Melbourne again.
“Realistically I can’t see myself playing a singles match here again,” he said.
“It’s hard. When you’re competing for the biggest tournaments in the world and you’re struggling to win sets physically, it’s pretty tough. All my focus now is just not taking anything for granted.”
A date for his next comeback has not been set.
