Nottingham Open: Yastremska books spot in final
Dayana Yastremska beat Magda Linette 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday. She’ll face the winner of the match between American McCartney Kessler and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova for the title
Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska reached the final of the Nottingham Open by defeating Pole Magda Linette, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-4 at Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre on Saturday.
Yastremska, ranked No 46, will play the winner of the match between American McCartney Kessler and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova next.
Ahead of her victory, the Ukrainian won against Serb Olga Danilovic, the No 9 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)), Croat qualifier Antonia Ruzic (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) and Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 5 seed (6-3, 7-6 (6)).
Linette, ranked No 31, won against Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala (6-4, 6-3), wildcard Mingge Xu (7-5, 6-1) and Dane Clara Tauson, the second seed (6-2, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Nottingham tournament.
