Canadian Leylah Fernandez moved into the second round of the Bad Homburg Open by defeating German wildcard Tatjana Maria 6-0, 7-6 (1) at the Bad Homburg vor der Höhe on Sunday afternoon.

Fernandez, ranked No 30, will play second seed Jasmine Paolini next.
