Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 8 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Bad Homburg Open by winning against Greek wildcard Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3 at the Bad Homburg vor der Höhe on Wednesday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 18, will play Pole Iga Swiatek, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian beat Swiss Belinda Bencic (6-1, 6-2).
Sakkari, ranked No 85, won against Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (7-5, 7-6 (6)) in the previous round of the Bad Homburg tournament.
