American Marcos Giron defeated Jacob Fearnley 6-3, 6-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne Open at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday evening.
Giron, ranked No 46, will play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Brazilian Joao Fonseca next.
In the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament, the American won against Italian Luciano Darderi (6-4, 7-5).
Fearnley, ranked No 51, won against Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 5 seed (6-2, 6-2) in the first round of the Eastbourne tournament.
