American Aleksandar Kovacevic beat Frenchman Quentin Halys 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Citi Open at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington on Tuesday.
Kovacevic, who reached the final of Los Cabos last week, has set up a match against No.6 seed Frences Tiafoe.
