Victoria Mboko won the trophy on Thursday night against Naomi Osaka.

Canadian wildcard Victoria Mboko won the Canadian Open trophy by defeating Japanese Naomi Osaka 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the IGA Stadium in Montreal on Thursday night.
In the previous rounds of the Rogers Cup, Mboko, ranked No 85, beat Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 9 seed (1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4)), Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-4, 6-2), American Coco Gauff, the top seed (6-1, 6-4), Czech Marie Bouzkova (1-6, 6-3, 6-0), American Sofia Kenin, the No 23 seed (6-2, 6-3) and Australian Kimberly Birrell (7-5, 6-3).
Osaka, ranked No 49, defeated Dane Clara Tauson, the No 16 seed (6-2, 7-6 (7)), Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 10 seed (6-2, 6-2), Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (6-1, 6-0), Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 22 seed (6-2, 6-4), Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 13 seed (4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3) and Canadian qualifier Ariana Arseneault (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
