Frenchwoman Carole Monnet won against Brazilian Carolina Alves 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the LP Open by IND on Wednesday. Monnet, ranked No 164, will face the winner of the match between Czech Laura Samson and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo next.
Ahead of her victory, the Frenchwoman defeated Slovenian Veronika Erjavec, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2). Alves, ranked No 240, beat Italian Jessica Pieri (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
