Frenchman Titouan Droguet continued his impressive rise on the ATP circuit Tuesday afternoon, securing a clinical 6-2, 7-6 (2) victory over Britain’s Jan Choinski to reach the last 16 of the Open Occitanie. The 24-year-old, currently ranked No 150, dominated the opening set with superior baseline depth before navigating a tense second-set tiebreak to dismiss the world No 174 in one hour and 41 minutes. Droguet, standing at 1.91m, utilized the fast indoor conditions at the Sud de France Arena to his advantage, winning 87% of his first-serve points.
“Winning at home in France is always the goal, and I felt I managed the important moments well today,” Droguet said following the match. The Frenchman now awaits a challenging second-round encounter against either his young compatriot Moise Kouame or the American No 8 seed Aleksandar Kovacevic. With the Montpellier crowd firmly behind him, Droguet is well-positioned to continue his climb toward a career-high ranking this week.
