Brooksby a effacé Bonzi et affrontera Garin au troisième tour

L’Américain Jenson Brooksby, tête de série n°29, s’est imposé trois manches à zéro (7-6, 7-5, 6-3) contre le Français Benjamin Bonzi et a atteint le troisième tour de Wimbledon jeudi, à Wimbledon.

Brooksby, 34e mondial, se mesurera au Chilien Cristian Garin lors du troisième tour du tournoi londonien. Cette année, l’Américain avait été éliminé d’entrée à Roland-Garros. Surtout, le joueur de 21 ans joue pour la première fois de sa carrière à Wimbledon. Bonzi, lui, est éliminé dès le 2e tour, comme à l’Open d’Australie en début d’année, et à Roland-Garros.

Avant cette rencontre face à Bonzi, 47e joueur mondial à l’ATP, jeudi, l’Américain de 21 ans avait éliminé le qualifié kazakhe Mikhail Kukushkin (6-3, 6-2, 6-3).
