Andy Murray knocked off top-seeded Jannik Sinner to reach the quarter-finals at Stockholm

Andy Murray has made it plain that he has plenty more to give when it comes to top-class tennis – and he emphasised that en route to the Stockholm Open quarter-finals, dismissing top seed Jannik Sinner in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-3.
It was his second Top 10 win of the year, following his defeat of Hubert Hurkacz in Vienna.
It was the first time these two had played each other – but quirkily the Italian had also lost his only other match against a British player this season, beaten by Jack Draper at Queen’s, 7-6(6), 7-6(2).
This time round, Murray rolled back the years, fended off the only break point he faced, and gritted his teeth to fight through a first-set tiebreak.
“It was a very tough match. He hits the ball huge from the back of the court so there were a lot of long rallies and a lot of running. But it’s probably my best win this season. I want to keep it going now,” Murray said on-court afterwards.
