Andrey Rublev edges Murray to win Abu Dhabi exhibition
Rublev won the exhibition tournament with a straight-sets triumph

At the end of a gruelling year – which includes a Davis Cup triumph with Russia just two weeks ago – Andrey Rublev beat Andy Murray 6-4, 7-6(2) to win the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.
Rublev had beaten Denis Shapovalov in Friday’s semi-final, 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4 in two hours and 17 minutes, while the British former world No 1 had beaten Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-5.
The world No 5 said after the final he was already looking ahead to 2022, adding: “It’s great to have these types of matches ahead of the new season, that’s why we are here; it’s great preparation.”
