Roland-Garros: Fritz needs four sets to reach second round

American Taylor Fritz, the No 13 seed, defeated Argentine qualifier Santiago Fa Rodriguez Taverna 7-6 [2], 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the second round of Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday.
Ranked No 14 in the world, Fritz achieved his biggest breakthrough earlier this year by beating Rafael Nadal to win the Indian Wells Masters Series event.
The American will face Spanish qualifier Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the second round.
Rodriguez Taverna, ranked No 201, had won three matches in the qualifying event to reach the main draw.
