Hungarian Grand Prix: Krunic through to semi-finals

Aleksandra Krunic won against Xiyu Wang 6-0, 6-1 on Friday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 3 seed, and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the next round

Serb Aleksandra Krunic won against Chinese Xiyu Wang 6-0, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Hungarian Grand Prix at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Friday.

Krunic, ranked No 105, will face the winner of the match between Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 3 seed, and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko next.

Ahead of her victory, the Serb beat German Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-4) and Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-0).

Wang, ranked No 102, defeated Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the top seed (6-1, 7-6 (1)) and Romanian Ana Bogdan (7-6 (2), 7-6 (10)) in the previous rounds of the Hungarian Open.
