Russian Aslan Karatsev edged out Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open at Am Rothenbaum on Thursday.
Karatsev, ranked No 37, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo and Russian Andrey Rublev, the second seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Russian won against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-0).
Galan, ranked No 113, defeated Argentinian Federico Coria (7-6 (4), 6-4) in the previous round.
