Italy’s Zeppieri reaches maiden ATP quarter-final at Umag
Giulio Zeppieri defeated Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. He’ll play the winner of the match between Dane Holger Rune, the No 3 seed, and Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the next round
Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri beat Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Croatia Open at the ITC Stella Maris in Umag on Wednesday afternoon.
Zeppieri, ranked No 168, will play Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles next.
The 20-year-old Italian edged out Argentinian Pedro Cachin (3-6, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous round of the Umag.
During the first round of the Umag, Galan, ranked No 99, won against Italian Fabio Fognini, the No 7 seed (6-3, 5-7, 6-3).
