Putintseva moves into last 16 at Toronto as Badosa retires due to injury

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva won against Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 4 seed, 7-5, 1-0 to reach the last 16 of the National Bank Open at the Aviva Centre in Toronto on Wednesday evening.
Putintseva, ranked No 46, will play American Alison Riske-Amritraj next.
Ahead of her victory, the Kazakh edged out Canadian wildcard Katherine Sebov (3-6, 6-2, 7-5).
