Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, defeated Croat Ana Konjuh 6-0, 6-0 to move into the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday evening.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 15, will face Canadian Bianca Andreescu next.
