American Coco Gauff, the No 12 seed, reached the second round of the US Open by defeating French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean 6-2, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday
Gauff, ranked No 12, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Australian Daria Saville next.
