First Top 10 win for Dart, shocks Kasatkina to make US Open second round

Harriet Dart won against Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 10 seed, 7-6 (8), 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday.

It is her first Top 10 win, and her first main draw win at Flushing Meadows – and makes her the first British woman since Johanna Konta to get a New York win over a player ranked in the Top 10.

Kasatkina, on the other hand, had gone into the tournament in great form, having just won the title at Granby, and enjoying a 10-2 winning record during the North American hard-court swing.

Dart, ranked No 88, will face Hungarian Dalma Galfi next.
