Italian wildcard Matilde Paoletti reached the quarter-finals of the Open delle Puglie by beating Argentinian qualifier Paula Ormaechea 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Matilde Paoletti will face the winner of the match between Dutch qualifier Eva Vedder and Montenegrin Danka Kovinic, the second seed, next.
The Italian won against Frenchwoman Harmony Tan, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-0) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Ormaechea, ranked No 240, defeated Romanian qualifier Andreea Rosca (3-6, 6-2, 6-2).
