Sherif saves TWELVE match points, makes Budapest second round
Mayar Sherif won against Jesika Maleckova 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-3 on Monday afternoon and will face Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the next round
Egyptian Mayar Sherif advanced to the second round of the Budapest Open by beating Czech qualifier Jesika Maleckova 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-3 at Római Tennis Academy on Monday.
Sherif saved twelve match points in the second set to prevail. One at 5-4 for Maleckova, six à 6-5, and above all six in the tie-break, Maleckova leading 6-2 to finally lose it 9-7 !
Sherif, ranked No 73, will face Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova next.
