Metz Open: Sonego advances to last eight
Lorenzo Sonego beat Gilles Simon 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Thursday. He’ll play American Sebastian Korda in the next round
Italian Lorenzo Sonego moved into the quarter-finals of the Metz Open by defeating French wildcard Gilles Simon 7-6 (2), 6-4 at Arènes de Metz on Thursday.
Sonego, ranked No 65, will face American Sebastian Korda next.
In the previous round of the Metz Open, the Italian won against Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 6 seed (7-5, 6-3). Simon, ranked No 175, won against Belgian David Goffin (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
