Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech upset Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7) to advance to the quarter-finals of the Tel Aviv Open at Expo Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon.
Rinderknech, ranked No 58, saved a match point in the third set before clinching victory. He will play Russian Roman Safiullin next.
The Frenchman beat Romanian qualifier Marius Copil (6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Tel Aviv.
