Japan Open: Kwon makes his first ATP 500 semi-final

SoonWoo Kwon beat Spaniard Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-0 to move into the last four of the Japan Open at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Friday.
Kwon, ranked No 120, will play American Frances Tiafoe, the No 4 seed, next.
SoonWoo Kwon won three matches in Tokyo at the ATP 500 level, for the first time of his career, against Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 6 seed (6-3, 6-2), American Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2) ahead of his victory and Martinez.
Martinez, ranked No 68, won against Australian Alexei Popyrin (7-5, 6-4) and Jaume Munar (4-6, 6-3, 6-1).
