Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas reached his seventh final of 2022 on Saturday after he beat Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6-2, 6-2 at the Stockholm Open.
The world No 5 needed just 73 minutes to wrap up a victory which means he will take on Danish teenager Holger Rune in the final. The 2018 champion remains unbeaten in Stockholm and will try to win his third title of the year on Sunday.
“A great match from my side, I think I played very well,” Tsitsipas said. “I was really focused, one of the matches where I was really into the game and I was able to produce some really good tennis throughout the entire match, pretty much. I was there, I was very daring, I was really going for it, and it worked in my favour.”
Earlier in the tournament, the Greek beat American Maxime Cressy (7-6 (5), 7-6 (12)) and Swede Mikael Ymer (7-5, 6-3).
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 52, won against Portuguese João Sousa (6-3, 6-2), Czech Jiri Lehecka (6-2, 6-2) and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 3 seed (6-1, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Stockholm.
Stockholm ATP 250, other semi-final result (Kungliga Tennishallen, EUR 648.130):
- Holger Rune beat Alex De Minaur (5): 4-6, 7-6 (1), 7-5
