American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, beat Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan 6-4, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Championships at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Pegula, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 8 seed, and Czech Karolina Muchova next.
The American won against Bulgarian qualifier Viktoriya Tomova (6-2, 5-7, 6-1) in the previous round of the Dubai Open.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai Open, Bogdan, ranked No 75, defeated German qualifier Laura Siegemund (7-5, 6-3) and American Shelby Rogers (7-6 (3), 6-3).
