Bogota Open: Stearns moves into semi-finals
Peyton Stearns beat Tamara Zidansek 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 on Saturday and will play Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 4 seed, in the next round
American Peyton Stearns reached the last 4 of the Bogota Open by winning against Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at the Country Club Bogota on Saturday.
Stearns, ranked No 116, will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old American defeated Spanish qualifier Rosa Vicens Mas (6-3, 6-1) and Russian Elina Avanesyan (6-4, 6-1).
Zidansek, ranked No 110, beat Hungarian Reka Luca Jani (6-0, 6-1) and Swede Mirjam Bjorklund (7-6 (3), 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of the Colombia Open.
