Madrid Open: Sakkari reaches fourth round at 1:00 am
Maria Sakkari won against Rebeka Masarova 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday evening
Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed, moved into the fourth round of the Madrid Open by beating Spanish wildcard Rebeka Masarova 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Caja Magica on Saturday evening, the match ending at 1:00 am in the morning.
Sakkari, ranked No 9, will face Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 26 seed, next.
The Greek won against Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
Masarova, ranked No 74, edged out Cristina Bucsa (6-3, 5-7, 6-4) and won against Croat Donna Vekic, the No 20 seed (6-1, 7-6 (5)).
