Catalonia Open: Mandlik beats Parrizas Diaz to make semi-finals
The American will face the winner of the match between Swiss Jil Teichmann, the top seed, and Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in the next round

American qualifier Elizabeth Mandlik won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals of the Catalonia Open on Friday.
Mandlik, the daughter of multiple Grand Slam winner Hana Mandlikova, will play the winner of the match between Swiss Jil Teichmann, the top seed, and Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska next.
The 21-year-old American, rnaked 147th in the world, defeated Spanish qualifier Angela Fita Boluda (6-1, 7-5) and Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 6 seed (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 76, beat Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed (6-0, 7-6 (3)) and Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (6-2, 6-3).
