Italian Open: Zheng into round of 16, beats qualifier before rain stops play for day
Qinwen Zheng won against Anna Bondar 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Saturday and will play Chinese Xiyu Wang in the next round

Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 22 seed, advanced to the round of 16 at the Italian Open by winning against Hungarian qualifier Anna Bondar 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Saturday.
Zheng, ranked No 21, will face Chinese Xiyu Wang next.
The 20-year-old Chinese defeated Frenchwoman Alize Cornet (6-3, 7-6 (2)) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Bondar, ranked No 93, beat German Tatjana Maria (6-4, 6-1) and Czech Karolina Pliskova, the No 13 seed (7-6 (5), 6-2).
