ALERT : Rome Masters, Medvedev wins his first tournament on clay

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, beat Dane Holger Rune, the No 7 seed, 7-5, 7-5 to win the Rome Masters trophy at the Foro Italico on Sunday evening.
It’s his 20th title on the Tour, the first on clay.
Ahead of his victory, Medvedev, ranked No 3, defeated Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (6-4, 6-2), Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the No 31 seed (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), German Alexander Zverev, the No 19 seed (6-2, 7-6 (3)), German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann (6-2, 6-2) and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 5 seed (7-5, 7-5).
Rune, ranked No 7, beat French qualifier Arthur Fils (6-3, 6-3), Italian wildcard Fabio Fognini (6-4, 6-2), Australian qualifier Alexei Popyrin (6-4, 5-7, 6-4), Serb Novak Djokovic, the top seed (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed (6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
