Roland-Garros: Wang into third round
Xinyu Wang defeated Rebecca Peterson 7-6 (5), 6-2 on Thursday and will face the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and American Claire Liu in the next round

Chinese Xinyu Wang reached the third round of Roland-Garros by winning against Swede Rebecca Peterson 7-6 (5), 6-2 at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.
Wang, ranked No 80, will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and American Claire Liu next.
In the previous round of the French Open, the 21-year-old Chinese beat Czech Marie Bouzkova, the No 31 seed (6-4, 7-6 (5)).
Peterson, ranked No 87, won against French qualifier Fiona Ferro (6-2, 6-0) during the first round of the French Open.
