Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 3 seed, beat Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (1), 6-3, 7-5 to win the Roland-Garros tournament at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of his victory, Djokovic, ranked No 3, defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (1)), Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (7-6 (2), 6-0, 6-3), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 29 seed (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-2), Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-3, 6-2, 6-2), Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 11 seed (4-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed (6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1).
Ruud, ranked No 4, beat Swede qualifier Elias Ymer (6-4, 6-3, 6-2), Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri (6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5), Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-4), Chilean Nicolas Jarry (7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5), Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3) and German Alexander Zverev, the No 22 seed (6-3, 6-4, 6-0) in the previous rounds.
