Mannarino into Newport semi-finals despite second-set slump against Thompson
He spent an hour longer on court than he could have done, but Adrian Mannarino got it finished

Second seed Adrian Mannarino made hard work of it but got through to the semi-finals of the Infosys Hall of Fame Open in Newport, beating Jordan Thompson 6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-2.
The Frenchman was up a double break in the second, leading 6-0, 5-2, before allowing his opponent back into it.

But he regained the upper hand again in the third set to reach his 22nd ATP Tour-level semi-final. It is his first time in the last four in Newport, despite having reached the quarter-finals three times previously.
