Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 5 seed, won against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday evening.
Dimitrov, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 13 seed, and Japanese Yosuke Watanuki next.

Ahead of his victory, the Bulgarian defeated American Mackenzie McDonald (7-6 (6), 6-2).
Ruusuvuori, ranked No 55, won against Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-4, 6-4) and Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 10 seed (6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
