Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 4 seed, reached the last 16 of the Chicago Women’s Open by winning against American wildcard Whitney Osuigwe 6-0, 7-5 on Tuesday evening.
Cornet, ranked No 65, will play Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova next.
